Analyzing ores, metals, and minerals in a laboratory.


Duties And Responsibilities


Receive and label samples from field and mining sites.
Prepare all samples for analyses including; data entry of sample information; crushing, splitting and pulverizing samples; handling reject returns.
Proficient with QAQC protocols.
Maintain complete and accurate records of all samples in the logbook and the computer database.
Send database to the Geology Manager for GIS plotting.
Perform daily housekeeping tasks and the routine maintenance of preparation equipment.
Must be willing to advance to increased levels of responsibility within the department.
Responsible for the quality and accuracy of all submitted samples prepared for analyses.
Must follow all applicable safety procedures to safeguard personnel and equipment while performing daily tasks.
Must be capable of independent thinking and making conscientious decisions when direct supervision is not available.
Assist with the application and maintenance of all necessary governmental licenses related to the laboratory.

Qualifications And Experience


National Diploma in Metallurgical Assay.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a mining environment Assay Lab.
Knowledge of sample preparation and fire assay procedures will be an asset.
Proficiency in computers including Microsoft Office.
