WhatsApp Will Soon Roll Out An Expiring Media Feature Without A ‘Deleted Message’ Notification
Facebook-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp is ramping up its safety and privacy features to give users the safest best experience.
As part of the upcoming ‘expiring messages’ feature, WhatsApp has hinted to be rolling a new added feature that will allow users to not only delete messages, but media too.
WABetaInfo has hinted that an ‘Expiring Media’ feature will include support for media files such as images, documents, GIF, and stickers among many in the latest beta version 2.20.201.1 of WhatsApp
Reports indicate that media files will automatically get deleted once the sender exits the chat – after the recipient has viewed it.
There will be an option to enable the feature which will automatically apply to the selected media files a user sends.
The feature doesn’t come with an expiration timer for users to preset. Hence users will first have to enable the feature which will lead to showing of a new button on the chat window.
Tapping such a button will enable the Expiring Media feature on the chat.
But unlike the previous deleted messages on old WhatsApp versions, the new expired media message will not be replaced with a deleted message notification that is usually seen after someone deletes a message. Instead, it will completely varnish from the chat with no trace.
There is, however, no official announcement date set for the release of this new WhatsApp feature. WhatsApp beta assured its users, like many other ‘cool’ features being released slowly, the Disappearing Messages feature will soon be available for each and every app user.
