Job Summary


The incumbent will report to the Plant Engineer and key responsibilities includes planning, implementing, monitoring and supervising repairs, designs, modifications. installations and protection of equipment to meet TelOne and external clients requirements.


Duties And Responsibilities


Production Planning
• Prioritises and delegates assignments to Journeypersons and Technical Assistants to ensure compliance with recommended turnaround times.
• Ensures material availability for both Mechanical and Electrical Sections before production resumption to avoid delays in work progress.
• Ensures that network elements manufacturing requests by Retail Operations are given priority for quick restoration of service.
• Schedules projects according to their priorities and comes up with work plans and set deadlines for completion of the projects.
• Monitors and maintains occupational health and safety standards to comply with the Factories Act.
• Provides mechanical consultancy Services to Engineers, Business Performance Supervisors, Chief Telecommunications Technicians as and when required.
• Ensures materials for production are utilised with minimum loses and timely encourage use of recycled materials as a cost cutting measure.
• Ensures that staff queries and grievances are timeously resolved or escalated to Human Resources.
Mechanical Shop Designs
• Designs and prepare sketches for prototype and modification of mechanical Shop products.
• Assists in the designing of Telecommunications infrastructure network elements by Retail as well as Infrastructure & Wholesale Divisions.

Ensures that mechanical jigs and templates are designed to required specifications and standards.
• Modifies machinery plant and mechanical products to meet requirements.

Qualifications And Experience


Qualifications! Experience
• Apprentice trained Journeyman Class One in Boiler making.
• Diploma in Mechanical! Electrical Engineering or Equivalent will be an added advantage.
• 3 years’ experience in Mechanical fabrication experience environment.
• Project Management and OMS knowledge will be added advantage.
• Good Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
• Strong business acumen, management and analytical skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with employees and stakeholders.
• Ability to translate insights into action.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
